Salmon Conservation Code for 2009 Season
CATCH & RELEASE

Release all salmon over 9 lbs / 28 inches throughout the season

Release all stale and gravid salmon and grilse and as many hen salmon and grilse as possible

Target 70% or more release rate for salmon to end of April.

Target 65% or more release rate for salmon and grilse to end of August

Target 70% or more release rate for salmon and grilse in September

Limit killings to no more than 2 salmon or 3 grilse per rod per 6 day period having achieved the target % release rate. 

METHOD

Before 1st May those beats allowing spinning will endeavour to curtail this practice and encourage fly fishing. 

Anglers are requested to use "pinched" or barbless hooks and to refrain from using triple hooks and if possible to use only single hooks. 

FISHING EFFORT

Where possible the numbers of hours and rods fished should be limited.   Anglers are encouraged to fish no more than 10 hours per day.

SEA TROUT

Anglers are requested to release all sea trout and finnock caught above the Forres Angling Association water.
